Testimonials:
“Myself and seven other members of the Cortland County Health Department staff attended the February session of the YWCA’s Kingian Nonviolence training last year. Our instructor Dr. Hudson is a skilled, nonjudgmental, and interactive facilitator that kept the group engaged for the full three hours. This was an amazing opportunity to reflect on how I interact with others both personally and professionally, and to gain new skills to help address injustices in our community and ideally contribute to a culture in which community members can attain their full potential. I was excited to bring what we learned back to our department to help create a systemic culture of nonviolence, a passion to address injustices, and to fully embody the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” Margaret Broderick, MPH, Cortland County Health Department’s Epidemiology Manager

“The Kingian Nonviolence training is inspirational and powerful. Not only helping participants to understand MLK’s work and the importance of his love but also helps us look at our own lives in different ways. The training also exposes everyone to very different opinions and experiences.” Alice Anderson, YWCA Cortland Board Member
“This training is enlightening me to know who I am and how I fit into helping to make change in the environment I live and in the world as a whole.” Julie Ryan, YWCA Cortland Finance Director
About the Training:
The Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation (CORE) training, originally designed as a 16-hour format over two days, has been adapted into a more accessible version consisting of four three-hour or two six-hour sessions. This condensed training has omitted certain elements, such as selected songs and activities, to accommodate the shorter time frame. However, the CORE content and principles of Kingian Nonviolence remain intact, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of this philosophy and its practical applications. Through interactive discussions, engaging exercises, and thoughtful exploration, participants will still receive a robust training experience that equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to embrace nonviolence as a way of life.
