As the back-to-school season approaches, we’re calling on our community to come together for a cause that\u00a0has a direct and lasting impact on local youth and families. From\u00a0July 15 through August 22<\/strong>, we\u2019re hosting a\u00a0Back-to-School<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Supply Drive<\/strong> to benefit children in Cortland, NY, including those participating in our mentoring program for low-income and at-risk youth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why This Drive Matters<\/span><\/h3>\n

Many families in our community struggle to afford basic school supplies and household essentials. These donations do more than fill backpacks\u2014they fill critical gaps in a child\u2019s ability to thrive. When students arrive at school with the tools they need, they\u2019re more confident, more engaged, and better prepared to succeed. Access to hygiene items and clean clothes not only supports physical health but also promotes dignity and emotional well-being. Providing warm winter clothing and proper footwear helps prevent illness and reduce school absences during colder months. This drive isn’t just about school readiness\u2014it\u2019s about long-term youth development<\/strong>. By easing the financial burden on families, we empower them to focus on work, stability, and future goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

How You Can Help<\/span><\/h3>\n

We’re collecting a range of items to support both academic and home life. Your generosity helps ensure every student starts the school year on equal footing. Here’s four ways you can help:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Bring Donations to the YWCA: <\/strong><\/span>Shop for needed back-to-school supplies (listed below) and bring them to the YWCA Cortland front desk between July 15 and August 22. <\/span>Please only donate NEW and UNUSED items.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Shop our Amazon Wish List: <\/strong>Unable to shop and drop off gifts in person? <\/span>You can purchase gifts from our\u00a0Back to School Supply Amazon Wish List.<\/a><\/span> To send the gifts straight to the YWCA, choose \u201cMelinda Anne Gardner\u201d for the shipping address, and we\u2019ll handle the rest!<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Make a Monetary Gift: <\/strong>Don\u2019t have time to shop but want to support?\u00a0Donate online<\/a> <\/span>or at the front desk so the program can shop for the necessary supplies.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Spread the word!: <\/strong>Can’t swing a donation right now? No worries! Help us spread the word; tell your friends and family or share our posts on Facebook<\/span>,<\/a> Instagram<\/a><\/span>, and Nextdoor<\/a><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Need Back-to-School Assistance?<\/span><\/h3>\n

    All school-age children in the Cortland area are eligible to receive this assistance. Please<\/span> register your child(ren) online<\/a> <\/span>or at the YWCA front desk.<\/span><\/p>\n
