YWCA Cortland\u2019s Board of Directors will hold its 2026 Annual Meeting of the Membership on Monday, May 11, at 5: 30 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. We cordially invite current and past members, supporters, staff, and community members to attend.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s annual meeting will be a little different. We are excited to bring a meaningful and engaging experience to our membership, and as a result, we will allow for a slightly longer meeting to ensure we all can participate fully and make the most of the program.<\/p>\n
Join us for an interactive and eye-opening Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation<\/b> designed by Bread for the World. Through guided activities and conversation, participants will explore how historical and present-day policies have shaped financial outcomes across communities over time and contributed to racial inequities and economic divides. Whether you are new to these topics or looking to deepen your understanding, this experience offers valuable insights into structural inequality and its real-world impacts on communities like ours.<\/p>\n
Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how these systems are connected and how we can work toward a more equitable future.<\/p>\n

\nThe Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation, designed by Bread for the World, is an interactive tool that shows how racial inequity is deeply connected to hunger, poverty, and wealth in the United States. It helps individuals, from beginners to experts, understand how historical and ongoing federal policies have created structural inequalities, particularly in areas like property ownership and education. These inequalities have led to hunger and poverty in communities of color. By illustrating the real economic impacts of these policies, the simulation highlights why racial equity is essential to ending hunger and poverty and encourages participants to support policies that reduce racial disparities.<\/p>\n
