A 4k fundraiser to support all those YWCA Cortland serves in the community.

Walk: starts at 10:30am at the YWCA (14 Clayton Ave. Cortland)

Registration: $25 per person (includes a free t-shirt)

Can’t walk on June 6th? No worries! You can still support this event by signing up to be a fundraiser.

 

We’ll be walking from the YWCA to Grace Brown House and back on Saturday, June 6th, to support all four of our programs. We were so inspired by everyone’s contributions last year that we’ve raised our goal to $30,000! After the walk, we’ll have chicken BBQ and patio games in the YWCA parking lot, an open house with community groups tabling in our gym, and then a ball roll down Clayton Ave.

The walk will begin at the main facility on Clayton Ave and travel along Main St. and N. Main St. to Homer Ave., passing our Here We Grow early learning child care center along the way. We’ll continue to the turnaround point at the Grace Brown House, a permanent supportive housing facility where our Aid to Victims of Violence Program provides services to women domestic violence survivors and their children. The return route follows Groton Ave. and ends back at the YWCA parking lot.

4k Walk

10:30 am—Get your steps in and walk the walk with the YWCA! Check-in and day-of registration open at 10:00 am.

Chicken BBQ & Patio Games

11:30 am—Join us for a lot party until we sell out! The back of our parking lot will be blocked off for cooking, eating, and playing games.

Open House

11:30-1:30 pm—Come learn about all the YWCA services provided through its four programs: Aid to Victims of Violence, Child Care, Community Wellness, and Mentoring. Other community and civic organizations will also be tabling.

Ball Roll

1:00 pm—Claim a golf ball (or 5 or 10) and watch as we roll them down Clayton Ave. to see which ones win the race and a cash prize, along with some other prizes! Purchase balls in the parking lot until 12:30 pm.

Walk Map & Instructions

  • Head east on Clayton Ave from the YWCA Cortland parking lot
  • Turn left on the corner of Clayton Ave and Main St
  • Head north to the corner of Groton Ave and Main St (crossing guards at Court St and Orchard St)
  • Cross Main St towards Clinton Ave, the east side of Main St (crossing guard at Groton Ave)
  • Head north to cross Clinton Ave toward N Main St (crossing guard at Clinton Ave)
  • Walk up the east side of N Main St and then turn right onto Homer Ave (crossing guard at Grant St)
  • Walk to the light at Wheeler Ave and Homer Ave and cross to the west side of Homer Ave (crossing guard at Wheeler Ave)
  • Continue north and cross to the walkway to enter the parking lot of Grace Brown House (crossing guard at Grace Brown House Parking entrance)
  • Stop at Grace Brown House water station
  • Head south on the west side of Homer Ave to the corner of Homer Ave and Groton Ave (crossing guards at Alvena Ave, W Main St, and Madison Ave)
  • Cross Groton Ave at the light (crossing guard at Groton Ave)
  • Turn left and head east toward Main St
  • Continue to the corner of Groton Ave and Main St (crossing guard at Pleasant St)
  • Turn right and head south down Main St to Clayton Ave (crossing guards at Orchard St and Court St)
  • Turn right and head west toward the YWCA Cortland front entrance (to open house) or parking lot (to leave)
