2025 YWCA Cortland Events
Annual Until Justice Just Is (previously Stand Against Racism) / January – April 2025 / YWCA Cortland and virtual
We continue participation in 2025 in YWCA USA’s national Until Justice Just Is initiative. We expect to include the 21-day Racial Justice Challenge (RJC) for the fourth year, with virtual learning activities presented each weekday for four weeks (likely in April). YWCA USA leads and provides content for the virtual RJC. For the second time, we are also planning Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation training courses in February and March, with a preview demo on MLK Day. A celebration for those completing this nonviolence training is planned for April. This initiative aims to raise awareness about YWCA’s work to eliminate racism and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Proceeds benefit all YWCA Cortland programs. Sponsors to be recognized across all activities.
23rd Annual Girls Day Out / Saturday, March 8, 2025 / Tompkins Cortland Community College
For the third year, Tompkins Cortland Community College will host Girls Day Out, providing a special day of activities designed to engage, motivate, and build confidence in our community’s young female leaders. Up to 100 young women ages 10-14 will participate in STEAM projects, an interactive career fair, and team-building exercises. This event takes place on International Women’s Day, a day focused on women’s equality and a day to #AccelerateAction. Proceeds benefit the Health & Fitness program.
Inaugural Walk the Walk with the YWCA / Saturday, May 10, 2025 / YWCA Cortland and virtual
YWCA Cortland is launching its newest fundraiser to support all those YWCA Cortland serves in the community. The 4K walk will begin at the main facility on Clayton Ave, travel along Main St., and N. Main St. to Homer Ave., passing our Here We Grow early learning child care center along the way. The walk will proceed to the turnaround point at the Grace Brown House, a permanent supportive housing facility where our Aid to Victims of Violence Program provides services to women domestic violence survivors and their children. The return route follows Groton Ave. and ends back at Clayton Ave. An open house will follow the walk so community members can learn about all YWCA programs and services. Our walkers will be encouraged to raise money as well through peer-to-peer fundraising.
23rd Annual Pig-n-Par Golf Tournament / Friday, August 1, 2025 / Willowbrook Golf Club
Each year, 100+ community members tee off to support the crucial programs and services of YWCA Cortland. By providing sponsorship funding for this event, your business makes it possible for all proceeds raised during the event to stay in Cortland County to benefit the local community.
6th Annual Chefs Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence / Wednesday, October 1, 2025 / The Lookout at Hope Lake (Greek Peak Mountain Resort)
The Chefs Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence event will return to The Lookout at Hope Lake for the third year. This popular and fun sell-out event features 24-26 local community leaders, and some pro chefs too, competing to be voted Best Chef by 250+ attendees. The event, which takes place during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, aims to spark conversations around and educate the public about domestic violence. Proceeds benefit the Aid to Victims of Violence program and help victims in our community.
