Volunteers are integral to supporting our organization and bringing about positive change in the Cortland community. Each year, YWCA Cortland recognizes outstanding individuals who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to serving others. These volunteers of the year exemplify the values of compassion, dedication, and selflessness.

On May 13, at our 2024 Annual Meeting, staff and members of the YWCA community came together to honor these outstanding volunteers and contributors. Please scroll down and read what they had to say.

Andrea Rankin

“Andrea Rankin, a member of YWCA Cortland’s Housing Workgroup, was recognized at the Annual Meeting as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Andrea is a longtime, passionate member of the YWCA. She’s been an integral participant and leader in multiple important YWCA accomplishments over the years. Most recently, Andrea led the charge to restore the Randall House/YWCA building. She wrote a grant on the Y’s behalf for a Historic Preservation Grant. It was approved, and we will receive $444,484 to renovate the interior and exterior of the building, making it safer while preserving its historic character. Thank you, Andrea!” – Susan Cerretani, YWCA Cortland Board of Directors Member

Cortland Noon Rotary Club

“It is my pleasure to present the community recognition award to the Cortland Noon Rotary Club for their continued generosity and support for the YWCA programs. A few specific projects to note are last year the club completely remodeled an aging nursery school kitchen that was being cited by the department of health in addition to refinishing the basement by building out closets for each program area. We are grateful for the way Rotarians support our work in the Cortland Community.” – Kelly Tobin, YWCA Cortland Executive Director
