We invite you to join us for Nicholas Owens’ presentation and open conversation on Governor Hochul’s FY 2026–2027 Budget Initiatives, highlighting investments (including universal child care) that align with the YWCA mission and support women, families, and communities across New York State.

The YWCA’s mission—to empower women and eliminate racism—has long guided transformative change in communities across the country. YWCA Cortland is honored to welcome back Kelli Nicholas Owens, whose life’s work and leadership have been deeply shaped by that mission.
Executive Director Nicholas Owens began her career at a local YWCA and later served as Regional Director of Public Policy for the YWCA, leading advocacy efforts across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Through this work, she advanced policies focused on women’s empowerment, racial equity, survivor safety, and reproductive economic justice. These are principles that continue to guide her service today as a member of Governor Kathy Hochul’s Cabinet.
