Lifeguard Training (blended online & in-person sessions)
Earn your lifeguard CPR, AED, and first aid certificates by attending this Red Cross approved training. Blended learning requires 7 hours of online course work to be completed before your first day of class on March 28. You will be sent a link once you register for the class. The instructor will be Taylor Foster.
When/Where: Sun., Mar. 28 / 9 am – 2 pm / virtual meeting
5-hour online lecture with instructor
Sat., Apr. 10 & Sun., Apr. 11 / 8 am – 4 pm / at YWCA pool
Pre-requisite swim test* / practice land & water rescue skills
Cost: $250, plus the cost for pocket mask & book that can be ordered online through Red Cross website. You are responsible for purchasing your pocket mask & book before class begins.
Lifeguard & CPR Review (in-person sessions)
Current lifeguards, renew your lifeguard certificate by attending a two-day lifeguard review course.
When/Where: Sat., 4/10 / 8 am – 12 pm / at YWCA pool
Pre-requisite swim test* / written and practical CPR
Sun., Apr. 11 / 12 – 4 pm / at YWCA pool
Written and water rescue skills test
Cost: $125 (includes CPR Challenge) OR $90 (CPR only)
Participants for lifeguard and waterfront certification must be 15 years old. Waterfront lifeguards must pass these prerequisites: swim 550 yards of combined breast stroke and front crawl; swim 20 yards and surface dive to retrieve a 10 lb. brick; tread water for 2 minutes with no hands; and, swim 5 yards and retrieve 3 dive rings in one breath. Pool lifeguards only need to swim 300 yards and do not need to retrieve the 3 dive rings.
