On Monday, December 11, State Senator Lea Webb stopped by the YWCA to announce that she has secured over $200,000 in state funds to support the work of local organizations and libraries providing education programs across Senate District 52.

Senator Webb said, “I am proud that I was able to secure these additional resources for our local organizations so that they can continue to offer critical services to our community.”

YWCA Cortland was granted $25,000 and was one of three Cortland County agencies to receive an award from Webb.

Jami Bistocchi, YWCA Cortland Child Care Director, accepted the award on behalf of the YWCA and explained that these funds will help pay for new telephone and intercom systems, an automated external defibrillator, and an online app to provide information to parents. Additionally, the YWCA School-Age and Mentoring (Bridges for Kids) Programs will be able to use some of the remaining funds.
